Waltm
Hi guys. I've run into an issue and I'd like some guidance on how to proceed. My parity disk status showed it has a read error. I ran the long smart test and replaced it with a new 8tb disk that I had just cleared and was intended be the new parity drive. The plan was to use the original 4tb parity drive for data but now I'm not sure if that's possible. Is this drive toast or is it possible to save it? tower-smart-20171115-1744.zip Quote Link to comment
JorgeB
It failed the extended SMART test so there are bad sector(s), you can try preclearing it and then re-running the SMART test, if it passes you can use it, though it's more likely to fail again in the near future than a disk that never had issues.. Waltm
Thanks for the help. Tried the preclear and it failed on read so I guess it's dead. I'm a little disappointed at the lifetime of 9278 hours tho. Quote Link to comment
tdallen
Sounds like it could still be under warranty? Quote Link to comment
