DogPatch06
Hello everyone, I'm trying to replicate Linus' 2 gamers 1 cpu build with a couple tweaks. I already have a pair of high-end gpus, but not enough PCIE lanes to add a crappy one to the top slot. Exact hardware at the bottom of the post. The problem I'm running into is this--Unraid seems to be grabbing my top-slot GPU, even though I've set the default graphics adapter to IGFX. Doing this causes all my screens to remain blank UNLESS I start the VM using the bottom-slot card or reset CMOS. Nothing comes up at all on integrated or top-slot card--no BIOS splash, no unRaid console, nothing. At the moment, I have one monitor each hooked up to integrated, top slot, and bottom slot so I can monitor all simultaneously. Using VNC and RDP, I've managed to install windows and drivers on both my VMs, and the second-slot VM seems to work fine. The top-slot VM doesn't detect my top-slot card in device manager (even though it's assigned), which makes me think that unRaid has grabbed it instead of my iGPU. In case it matters, I've had to enable ACS override so my two GPUs end up in different IOMMU groups. I'm very new to virtualization, so any and all input is very welcome. As promised, specs: i7-6700k ASUS ROG Maximus VIII ASUS 1080 Ti OC (top slot) EVGA 980 SC (bottom slot) Samsung 950 Pro (used only when I'm not running unRaid) 2x SanDisk 120GB SSDs as my array drives Quote Link to comment
SpaceInvaderOne
So you are not getting any console output from unraid from igpu or you 2 gpus? You need to check your bios settings that igfx is set as primary and multi monitor support is enabled Also if still having problems please post your PCI Devices and IOMMU Groups Quote Link to comment
DogPatch06
It was neither. IGFX is primary, I had multi-monitor ON, and when I turned it off, suddenly my VMs worked. I tried this before, but I must have changed something in the time between! Quote Link to comment
DogPatch06
By the way, big thanks to you and your videos. Helped a lot configuring the GPUs. I'm still trying to figure out how to pass chipset audio to one VM, but they're both working with GPU audio for now. Edited July 23, 2017 by DogPatch06 Quote Link to comment
