axeman
So one of my oldest drives died. I was able to capture the syslog, but the smart reports come out as no such device. "Smartctl open device: /dev/sdc failed: No such device" Syslog of failure is attached. Since I have a drive waiting in the wings, so replacement/rebuild is probably where I'll go with this, but just wanted to get some feedback before I do. It's been a while since I've had a failed drive, I'm assuming the v5 drive replacement action is pretty much the same? Stop array, set slot to no device, pop in new drive, start array, rebuild! The other drive was really meant to prep for a v6 migraiton. I'll post a separate topic for guidance on that. syslog-2017-05-06.txt Quote Link to comment
JorgeB
Disk dropped offline, like it powered off, you should reboot (or power cycle) and try and get a new SMART report. Quote Link to comment
axeman
I pulled the drive and added in a new one. I've got another physical machine that i'm bringing up to see if I can get a test of Unraid 6 on - hopefully if the drive powers up, I can get a smart report there. Quote Link to comment
