ashman70 Posted April 6, 2017 Share Posted April 6, 2017 Awhile back I was shopping around for the same, I came to the conclusion that the cheapest dual Xeon board I could find, and I am in Canada, was around $399 for an Asrock board, anything else was more money, and this was brand new for just the board, no RAM no CPU's. Another way of looking at it is to shop around on eBay for a cheap pair of Xeon's then find a board that they can run on. I am running an older Intel socket 1366 board that came with quad core xeons and I was fortunate enough to find a pair of hex core xeons I could upgrade to for $100.00 but newer socket 2011 board will run on less power and produce less heat and in some cases offer more upgrade paths, the downside is they cost a little more.
