ptmurphy
Just upgraded to unRAID 6.3.2 and it is flagging a drive because of Reported Uncorrect Errors from SMART. It's a bit confusing because there are no other problems with sectors.I have read a bunch of the 187 error but don't really understand what it is telling me. The number appears to be very high - 1287. Here is the smart report on the drive... would you replace it? unraid-smart-20170312-1739.zip Quote Link to comment
SSD
I'd ask the question how recently did these 1237 reported incorrect show up. If they've been there a long time, and not gotten worse, and parity checks are working fine, I'd not be overly concerned with that. If these were 0 a month ago, and over the course of the last month they went from 0 to 1237, I'd say that is bad and the drive should be replaced. But another thing catches my eye. The drive is over 42000 power on hours. That is pushing 5 years. I'd say this is not a disk with a long life in front of it. And these Samsung's don't have a great reputation here anyway. I'd say between the two, unless you know that the 1237 have been around since birth, I'd be looking to replace it sooner than later. Quote Link to comment
ptmurphy
All good points. I had actually never looked at the SMART report... I only noticed a problem when unRAID 6 flagged the drive as possibly a problem. I'll probably plan on going ahead and replacing it to be safe. Thanks for the response! Quote Link to comment
