korith
I can't seem to find the option if there is one, to change the display style. Was hoping to find one that doesn't have the white background. A bit hard on the eyes. 1 Quote Link to comment

jonp
I'll work on getting a new theme put together that offers a "dark" option for those that are going blind. I will admit, it is a bit bright... 2 Quote Link to comment
BetaQuasi
Thanks Jon! Something like this would be amazing (just for reference!): https://www.ipsfocus.com/themes/engraved/ Quote Link to comment

Price seems reasonable enough. 1 Quote Link to comment
korith
Thanks. Themes, that was the word I was after, display style was all I could come up earlier. Sad considering I used to set up forums for folks years ago and dealt with this stuff all the time. Quote Link to comment

kizer
Yes Please. I feel like I'm staring into the sun after a long night of Code Bingeing. Lol Quote Link to comment
kizer
Wow I have to admit this new Forum looks pretty darn good on my iPhone without using TapaTalk or any other app. Quote Link to comment

They have a really solid responsive design that works great regardless of the form factor of the device you're using. Quote Link to comment
autumnwalker
IPSFocus has excellent themes and Ehren provides incredible support. I have used several of his themes over the years. FWIW, I don't mind this one! Edited February 21, 2017 by autumnwalker Quote Link to comment
BrianAz
Love the new forum software! Looking forward to the dark theme. Thx Quote Link to comment

The current display seems somewhat narrower than before, with large blank areas on both sides, more scrolling therefore. I'd like to see a choice for about 40% to 60% wider, so there would be less vertical scrolling. (The line spacing adjustment helped with that, thank you!) Speaking of vertical scrolling, is there any chance we could have an option to display the avatars at half size? And if there is no avatar set, leave it blank, and raise whatever's underneath (seems a waste of vertical space now)? And speaking of the large blank areas, on my left browser edge is an arrow labeled "Manage Blocks", with some very interesting choices I would have liked to try. I would have tried them, but they sound like they would apply to ALL users' displays, not just mine. So perhaps it's an admin thing I shouldn't be seeing? Quote Link to comment
JaY_III
+1 for dark theme this overly white theme is burning my eyes Quote Link to comment

That is definitely an admin function that somehow got applied to mods as well. Please don't touch ;-) Quote Link to comment

Please don't touch ;-) Depending on the theme you are using some of these items are "additional features" provided by the theme (e.g. adjustable content width). The other stuff you can edit (somewhat) by adding overriding CSS to custom.css in the theme editor. The block editor that the Mods are seeing are a permissions issue Quote Link to comment
Pinozul
+1 for dark theme +1 for theme allowing more compact, denser display of content Aside from those items, I like the new features. Quote Link to comment
heffe2001
I'll definitely add a vote to a dark theme, white-background sites give me way too much eye strain, lol. Quote Link to comment

I think the forum is optimized for ultra high dpi screens, and shrinking it down a bit works great for me, other than the width shrinking as well. Quote Link to comment
bubbaQ
WAY too much whitespace... not just the fact the background is BLINDINGLY white, but the line spacing and padding around objects is HUGE, requiring way too much scrolling and taking up way too much wasted screen real estate. Can we turn off avatars... they are annoying. Quote Link to comment
BetaQuasi
Any word on a different theme? Spending very little time on the forums as a result of the bright whiteness 1 Quote Link to comment
argonaut
A dark theme would be a very welcome addition. I actively avoid this forum as it really hurts my eyes. Quote Link to comment
Hoopster
I take it there has been no movement on a darker theme? I find myself spending less time on the forum (not that that is a bad thing :)) because the white is just too bright and makes it harder for me to read posts. I have the unRAID GUI set to the dark theme as well. The third-party theme suggested earlier in this thread by BetaQuasi seems to be a good one. Is that something that an individual user has to pay for ($30) in order to use or can it be implemented as a forum option? Quote Link to comment
pfp
any update on that dark theme? Quote Link to comment
