pyrater
Well yes, yes i did click help. Furthermore i have a lot of respect for you as the author of Dynamix (which is great). However, that being said as a "Lime tech Certified Community Developer", I would ask that you you go see the help section as well before you respond to community questions with basically RTFM. This community can either be helpful or closed off to the point where people do not feel comfortable asking questions, where do you think its headed. If it is indeed easy to find somewhere, i may have missed it which is why i am asking a question in the correct forums under the support section as a unRAID Pro owner. BTW its not in the help. It is not in the wiki either under getting started. http://lime-technology.com/wiki/index.php/UnRAID_6/Getting_Started It is also not under https://lime-technology.com/user-shares/ It also does not appear to show up in the wiki http://lime-technology.com/wiki/index.php?title=Special%3ASearch&search=clone&go=Go Quote Link to comment

The reason I did that is because there is an explanation in there about clone destination (see attachment). Quote Link to comment

John_M
I can't see it either. Is it only displayed when the array is stopped? Quote Link to comment

You assumed his reply was snarky, maybe it was maybe it wasn't, but yours definitely was and is not necessary. Quote Link to comment
pyrater
Lesson learned. I am just a customer, not a dev, and i was simply looking for an answer to my question. I was not trying to be snarky (i even told him about hiw much i respect his work) as much as i want to keep this community helpfull and not see it go down the path of making people afraid to ask basic questions. bonienl
I have two machines running, one with 6.2.1 and the other one with 6.3.0-rc2. They both show the clone destination description in the help, hence my earlier reference. Further investigation however shows the additional help text was added as part of the bleeding edge plugin, but isn't included in the above releases. This may have added to the 'confusion'. pyrater, at least you made it clear it was missing. Let's move on. Quote Link to comment

Jessie
Can someone explain the Clone Destination Button in simple terms. What is its function? Why is it there? There doesn't appear to be much documentation on it. Quote Link to comment

kizer
Basically if you setup a share a specific way and we will call that A and want to use that same setup on another share you can clone A to B without changing all of the below info. I've never honestly used it myself, but that's what I gleem from the Help info that bonienl posted up in the image. Quote Link to comment

Gico
When changing a disk share settings, the "Clone destinations" for the User Access section allows only All or nothing, and not showing the disks list, so it's quite useless now because not only that I cannot select from the disks list, but also I can't tell if "All" means only disk shares (I don't want user shares to be affected). You can only clone user access settings to disks which have the same security settings. In other words first clone security settings then user access. Quote Link to comment
Gico
OK thanks. I suggest that you add this reservation to the help. Quote Link to comment
bman
This is (to me at least) another bit of confusing nomenclature similar to the "Restore" button from unRAID 4.5 and below. What you're cloning is settings. Perhaps the button could be called "Clone Settings to..." What I'd like is a "Clone Destination" button that rsyncs the selected share to any mounted destination (say from my main server to my backup server). That's what I immediately think of when I see the button now. $0.02 Quote Link to comment
