barakthecat Posted February 7, 2015 Share Posted February 7, 2015 Hi all, running v6b12 and periodically have issues where AFP becomes unresponsive. It typically manifests itself by TimeMachine being unable to connect to the backup, and then I can't connect to any of the shares *while logged in*. If I click the Disconnect button in the Finder I can browse the shares that have no security on them. Rebooting the Mac doesn't help, rebooting unRAID does but I would prefer to not have to do that. I tried simply turning off AFP in the webGUI, but I don't get the disconnect notification on my Mac, and when I turn it back on it instantly has the same number of logged in users indicating it never really turned off. barakthecat Posted February 8, 2015 Author Share Posted February 8, 2015 Thanks, I did both recommendations. Most of the directories had issues with the extended attributes that I was able to fix. File system check showed no errors. No idea if this will help or not as I rebooted after for good measure. It also seems like the problem is triggered by the AFP security settings. I was backing up to a user share (I created a share for each Mac that would back up) that was tied to a single drive and used exclusively for Time Machine. I've been running for a few weeks now as a disk share and so far so good. Quote Link to comment
barakthecat Posted March 7, 2015 Author Share Posted March 7, 2015 So now I've got three Macs happily backing up to unRAID using a disk share (2 real and 1 a virtual machine running Yosemite on unRAID). The Macs are doing great, but I'm getting the following error in my unRAID log, which repeats every 2 minutes Mar 7 09:06:23 StrongBad afpd[16320]: get_tm_bandsize("/mnt/disk3/Homestar.sparsebundle/Info.plist"): Permission denied Mar 7 09:08:23 StrongBad afpd[16320]: get_tm_bandsize("/mnt/disk3/vMac.sparsebundle/Info.plist"): Permission denied Mar 7 09:08:23 StrongBad afpd[16320]: get_tm_bandsize("/mnt/disk3/Homestar.sparsebundle/Info.plist"): Permission denied I did a search on the get_tm_bandsize and didn't really get much info on it, but it's a permission error. Each sparesebundle is owned by the user that logged in. Any suggestions? Quote Link to comment
