Active Directory possible solutions

Recommended Posts

Existing unraid setup with all public shares version 5.05

Issue 1. Unable to make unraid join the domain. The DNS IP was set in network settings. The FQDN , username and password were set in SMB settings.

Solution: deleting smb-extra.conf allowed connection to domain

Issue 2. All PC had access to the shares

Solution: Browse to the shares in network on the Domain Server, right click on share, choose properties, security, advanced, owner, edit and chose the server administrator. The domain server now has control of the share.  Choose permissions tab, Change Permissions, Choose Everyone, click edit, remove all the permissions given to everyone. Now go back to main security page and add user  or groups that need access to share.

If you loose access to the share, reset the permissions using the new permissions util in unraid  (utils, upgrade utils, new permissions)

This works for me, I hope it will be helpful to other.
