calypsocowboy
I'm upgrading from rc12 I think to 5 final. The upgrade seemed to go fine, installed the key rebooted and for the most part I can get to the console okay on reboot. I can get to the gui fine without problems for a bit, then all of sudden, nothing. I can't get to via server name or IP. The server is still up and functioning, serving files and I can get to it via telnet, it's just the console appears to be dead, I'm seeing a lot of these errors in my syslog. Sep 7 17:27:24 CASCADE avahi-daemon[1112]: Invalid response packet from host 192.168.1.101. Sep 7 17:29:04 CASCADE avahi-daemon[1112]: Invalid response packet from host 192.168.1.101. Sep 7 17:30:44 CASCADE avahi-daemon[1112]: Invalid response packet from host 192.168.1.101. Sep 7 17:32:23 CASCADE avahi-daemon[1112]: Invalid response packet from host 192.168.1.101. Sep 7 17:34:03 CASCADE avahi-daemon[1112]: Invalid response packet from host 192.168.1.101. This is pretty much a fresh install, no plugins and the stock 5.0 web gui. SMB setting are as follows: Enable SMB: Yes (Workgroup) Done Workgroup: BAWDENHOME Local master: No Yes -Josh Quote Link to comment

calypsocowboy
20130908 is the current log, at this point web console is still responding, parity is rebuilding right now. 20130907 the server was unresponsive and just before I triggered an unclean shutdown. syslog20130907.txt Quote Link to comment
calypsocowboy
Second log syslog20130908.txt Quote Link to comment
dgaschk
Those messages are harmless unless the log is getting too big to fit in RAM. What type of computer is 192.168.1.101? Quote Link to comment
MortenSchmidt
Did you figure this out? I have the same errors, and it is filling up the syslog, as the error is repeated quite often - up to 40 times per hour. Quote Link to comment
dgaschk
What type of computer is sending the messages? Contact Lime and ask how to reduce the avahi logging. Quote Link to comment
twg
anyone figure out how to reduce these log entries ? I have a bunch of these too... Quote Link to comment
MortenSchmidt
I still get these with unraid 5.0.5. They are caused by a macbook with 10.9.2 maverics and a blackberry z10. So hard to understand why these would be sending invalid packets to the server. Quote Link to comment
DaleWilliams
Do you have NFS on? Quote Link to comment
dgaschk
Try rebooting your router. Quote Link to comment
Dephcon
Sorry to bump this old thread but I'm also noticing this issue with 5.0.6. I have thousands of these messages in my syslog from my windows 8.1 desktop and my wife's BB Z10(which has never accessed the server) Quote Link to comment
T3nchu
getting the msg every 10 mins. check the IP address which is not attached to any computer??? Very odd! Quote Link to comment
pras1011
I am having this issue too. Is there a solution? Quote Link to comment
RobJ
I am having this issue too. Is there a solution? This is one of the v5 threads about it, and if you search you'll find others (just as old) that associate it with a Mac on the network. I believe you are running v6, so if you search, you'll find more appropriate and recent threads that associate the problem with a Windows 10 machine on your network. Quote Link to comment
pras1011
Yes. Thanks. I am using two win 10 machines. I had a feeling that they were causing the problems. Quote Link to comment
cliewmc
Try removing all the entries in "Quick Access". These are recent files that was accessed by the Win10 PC, that keeps an entry under Quick Access. It solved my problems. Hope that helps. Quote Link to comment
dgaschk
On the host that is sending the messages. The host, 192.168.1.101, in the OP. Quote Link to comment
squircle
Just to say I'm experiencing the same issues - I've just disabled ipv6 on windows 10 (fresh upgrade from last night) and its not made any difference. Its not an issue except to say that its blurring the logs for me tracking down the slow afs on OS X. Quote Link to comment
dgaschk
Resolved in version 6.1: - avahi: supress "Invalid response packet from host" messages Quote Link to comment
