perfessor101
Thanks for the information ... It only happened to me after moving the netcat power cables around ... after replacing them it hasn't happened again. I'll get another USB stick on monday so I can boot into DOS and run the mentioned utility to reduce the risk of it happening again. Quote Link to comment
g0pkh
Hello Sorry to Hijack into this thread. I wonder if someone can help me. I have just completed a new server build, and am trying to get email notifications working. I am unable to get any mails sent from my unraid box. When performing an "unraid_notify -d" this is the output root@UPYMS001:~# unraid_notify -d > < 220 smtp141.mail.ukl.yahoo.com ESMTP > EHLO UPYMS001 < 250 8BITMIME > AUTH LOGIN < 334 VXNlcm5hbWU6 > < 334 UGFzc3dvcmQ6 > WjFsbDNydGFs < 235 OK, go ahead > MAIL FROM: <*****.*******@yahoo.co.uk> < 250 OK , completed > RCPT TO: <*****.*******@yahoo.co.uk> < 250 OK , completed > DATA < 354 Start Mail. End with CRLF.CRLF > . < 451 Invalid Smtp line - Should end with CRLF 451 Invalid Smtp line - Should end with CRLF Note that I have replaced my email address with *'s I have also attached my cfg file to this post All passwords and addresses have naturally been removed. unraid_notify.cfg Quote Link to comment
Joe L.
Actually, you did not remove your e-mail. (The first three letters are "pet" and it ends with "@Tower" ) It looks malformed, probably why it is not working. It probably should not have both an @uk and a @Tower in the e-mail. Joe L. g0pkh
Hi Can anyone help with this. I am still unable to get my system to send any emails using this notify script Thanks Pete Quote Link to comment
brainbone
Sorry, looks like my email notifications for this thread were disabled. I would try changing the port from 25 to 587. You could also try some of yahoo's other SMTP server; plus.smtp.mail.yahoo.co.uk, plus.smtp.mail.yahoo.com, etc. Do these same SMTP configuration settings work for sending mail in another email client (Thunderbird, etc.)? g0pkh
Hi Brainbone. Many thanks for your reply. I will try these suggestions later today. I know the smtp.mail.yahoo.co.uk port 25 address does work. Because I also have a synology NAS box which emails a daily backup report log to me using this address. What interests me is this < 451 Invalid Smtp line - Should end with CRLF 451 Invalid Smtp line - Should end with CRLF which is listed right at the end of the unraid_notify -d output which I posted above. It would appear that the system was connecting and authenticating ok, but that there was some problem with the email content. Are there any other email utilities that I can use ? I am only really interested in being emailed regarding errors with the RAID system (ie drive failure etc) I don't need regular system information being emailed. Regards Pete Quote Link to comment
heffneil
I'm just wondering, and maybe I am blind, but why isn't this a package in unmenu? Thanks! Neil Quote Link to comment
Joe L.
1. It is only available as an attachment to the unRAID forum post, and you must log in to see the attachment, and unMENU's package manager has no way to "log in" 2. because it is maintained by somebody else as that attachment. 3. because it has the nearly identical capabilities as the ssmtp/mailx package in unMENU and since the "at" and "cron" commands cannot use a shell scripted mail command, so it does not work for those. (They expect a true binary execuitable) You can choose and install whichever you wish. unraid_notify.sh is a great piece of coding. Use it, or the mailx/ssmtp combination in unMENU, but not both. (There are several periodic status packages in unMENU to get alerts when the array is abnormal or when disk temperature are rising above a threshold.) Joe L. Quote Link to comment
heffneil
I couldn't find anything in the package manager that talked about notifications? I really want a web interface to modify notifications and the such. I am not much of a linux guru and would prefer not to futz with a config file. I guess I could edit it with unmenu since if you held a gun to my head and made me use vi I would be dead Neil Quote Link to comment

Look for: unRAID Status Alert sent hourly by e-mail and unRAID Power-Down on disk overtemp Both are configurable (to a degree) from the web-interface in the package-manager. Joe L. Adrian
This is probably something old, but as someone who hates warnings, I like to see things clean. I was wondering what causes the warning 'Package has not been created with 'makepkg'? I always get this when unraid_notify is being installed. Thanks, Adrian Quote Link to comment
