If I get gen 8 microserver, can I connect IP cameras direct to this micro server by using a poe network switch on one of the gbit ports of server and also use as a media NAS device connected to other gbit port on server using unraid?

With an unraid system, is it true that the hardware shuts down when not in use/streaming? I dont want the disks, cpu and fans powered on 24/7.

Ive since seen a gen 8 with a xeon processor with around 6000 passmark. But im looking at 80w tdp. So im sure this will be perfect for any transcoding. But is more power hungry. Whereas x3216 is only 20w tdp

Hi, i am planning to purchase a new HP micro server gen 10 x3216. Please can you advise if this will be good for my needs? Im planning on configuring as Nas with all my movies in high quality 1080p with dtshdma. Will only be accessed over internal network at home using plex. Due to all the transcoding that will be happening, is the cpu powerful enough? Thanks in advance for any replies.
