I have a dated TS-269L which lost HDMI output when there was a lightning strike near the house. The rest of the hardware (2 x 4TB HDD) is fine. It ran the QNAP OS flawlessly for several years after the ZAP. I set up a USB drive with the UNRAID tool and set a static IP. I booted the NAS, but after 10 min the IP is not loading in the web window and only the LAN light is flashing, so I'm suspecting there is some sort of input needed. I'd love to set this up as a storage device, but cannot see the boot screens. I can fit a USB keyboard. Any tips on what keys I need to hit to get the web window responsive? From there, I should be golden. Thanks.

Is there a more updated list of USB sticks that work with Unraid other than what's on the Wiki? Things have advanced slightly since WinXP. 😀 Thanks.

As only specific USB keys are capable of loading the license info properly, is there a way I can get an approved key from you as part of the purchase process? I live in Bermuda and getting those specific USB key models without a lot of expense is difficult. The smallest I can find on island is 64GB and the manufacturer is not on your approved list. If I get the wrong one, or they substitute another model (happens all the time) rather than the one I want, returns are problematic. Why not just offer a pre-installed license option on a USB key that you know works and mail/Fed-Ex it out? I'd be happy to cover any additional expense for that. I can't be alone in this and I'm sure others would like to see this option. Thanks.

Howdy Guys and Gals, I checked the FAQ and manual before creating this post. I see AMD VM technology is supported, but saw no mention of RyZen CPU support anywhere. This is rather important to me because I'm building a RyZen system for unRAID. The intent is to run my current Win7 install as a VM on unRAID. Obviously, if there's any issues to doing this, I'd like to know before dropping several thousand on new hardware. There's a few other threads mentioning it as "coming soon." Can we get an update on where this is today please? Thanks very much. Cheers.

Morning, I have a Win 7 install on an OCZ PCIe SSD disk that I want to turn into an unRAID VM, but that drive is not recognized under Linux. I've read the excellent tutorial here: https://wiki.lime-technology.com/UnRAID_Manual_6#Physical_to_Virtual_Machine_Conversion_Process using the command: qemu-img convert -p -O /dev/sdX /mnt/cache/domains/vdisk1.img All that is straight forward, but the PCIe SSD drive cannot be seen in Linux and this method will not work. Neither will transferring the PCIe drive to the unRAID server for the same reason. That leaves me with using a third party program to export the Win7 VM to a compatible VM file for unRAID, but I don't see a list of acceptable VM file formats. I don't mind spending a few bucks on a third party convertor utility, but I need to know what VM file formats are supported before I proceed. Cheers.

It's an eight GB Dell USB, formatted in FAT32. Never been used for unRAID. This is the first time I've tried to install it. Will have to bring another model in from home as all the ones I have here are Dells.

Hi all, just downloaded the latest version of unRAID to try out. Formatted the USB drive in accordance with the video direction off your site. Booted and logged onto "Tower". Web interface tells me the "unRAID Server - flash device blacklisted" in the header. Never installed unRAID before so not sure why this is. There's no place to request a trial key as shown in the "Initial setup" video. What are next steps? Thanks.

I looked at both and chose the Vive. The Vive and Oculus are both excellent and have very little difference between them, but the ability to have a 15 x 15 foot play space was the clincher for me. My friends love it. Thanks for the feedback. The pass through is really good to know. VMWare Workstation Pro cannot do that currently. Oh and I have my own NAS so that isn't an issue.

I'm currently running Ubuntu 16 as my main OS with Win 7 available on the same machine via dual boot for gaming. My current system is custom built and four years old. It's still good, but I'm looking at a replacement machine and am not 100% sure which way to go. OK, I'm posting here so I'm leaning towards UnRaid, but I need second opinions. I've got a strong background in commercial VMWare server products, but never used UnRaid before. . I've been looking at a RyZen 1800X, ASUS Crosshair Hero MB combo using GTX 980Ti and TitanX-P video cards. I can't dual boot because of Win 7 compatibility issues with RyZen and I'm not getting Win10. I have two choices for how I want the OS's set up. a) UnRaid with separate Ubuntu 16 VM and Win 7 VM that I can bring up as needed. b) Native Ubuntu 16 OS with Win 7 VM, (probably running on a VMWare Workstation Pro client.) The primary use of the Win 7 VM would be gaming. I can do everything else on the Linux side. Gaming (honestly just one game) is the last holdover for keeping Windows. I do use an HTC Vive for VR as well. From what I can see I'll lose a few % for VM overhead either way, but should be acceptable on the multi-core RyZen CPU. So which way would you go, and why? I know there are some issues with RyZen, but I'm a long term planner and know they will be solved eventually. Thanks.
