  3. No as I said after replacing a broken 2nd Parity disk, a different 8TB Seagate was in error state (while rebuilding the 2nd parity disk).
  4. So after a couple of broken (or not) disks again (all replaced under warranty by seagate) I thought why not continue this thread. Today added my replaced 2nd parity disk and when rebuilding that parity disk another disk had the error status, here is the smart test: (short, the long version is still running) ATA Error Count: 2 CR = Command Register [HEX] FR = Features Register [HEX] SC = Sector Count Register [HEX] SN = Sector Number Register [HEX] CL = Cylinder Low Register [HEX] CH = Cylinder High Register [HEX] DH = Device/Head Register [HEX] DC = Device Command Register [HEX] ER = Error register [HEX] ST = Status register [HEX] Powered_Up_Time is measured from power on, and printed as DDd+hh:mm:SS.sss where DD=days, hh=hours, mm=minutes, SS=sec, and sss=millisec. 5. Well I tried openflixr but I have a strange problem that doesn't seem to be a openflixr problem. I have strange speed problems when downloading. I hit a 20MB/sec limit with the VM but copying a file from a nfs share goes with 50-60MB/sec. So the speed in the machine is there. But when downloading the exact same NZB file on my unraid sabnzbd Docker speeds are around 55-60MB/sec (500mbit/up/down(fiber)) Is there somebody who maybe can explain this? I think the network copy speed also can be much higher. These are my specs of the Unraid build: Mainboard: Asus B150M PRO GAMING Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-6500 CPU @ 3.20GHz DIMM DDR4 Synchronous 2133 MHz (0.5 ns) (corsair) (32GB) LSI 9211-8i LSI00194 8 port 6GB/s PCI-Express controller 3x Samsung SSD 850 Evo 500GB for Cache 5x Seagate Archive 8TB (ST800AS0002) (2 for Parity) 2x 8tb WD Red (data) 2x 4TB WD Red (data) 1x 4TB Seagate (data)

  7. thats already running but the short test also took a while, will post it when ready
  8. thanks for the tip, i will look into that. It could be so simple but i think it is strange that the same disks have this problem, my 2 8TB WD reds never had any problems (thus far). In the Seagate disks thread i uploaded the result of the smart test, this is for 1 of the 2 disks that were disabled...
  9. Here is the SMART Report for the disk, i just received word from Seagate that the disk that i already send was indeed broken en they just send me a new one. Here is the smart data for the disk (2of2) that i didn't send to seagate (will do it if it fails again). smartctl 6.5 2016-05-07 r4318 [x86_64-linux-4.4.30-unRAID] (local build) Copyright © 2002-16, Bruce Allen, Christian Franke, www.smartmontools.org === START OF INFORMATION SECTION === Model Family: Seagate Archive HDD Device Model: ST8000AS0002-1NA17Z Serial Number: Z840PHNF LU WWN Device Id: 5 000c50 0925478dd Firmware Version: AR17 User Capacity: 8,001,563,222,016 bytes [8.00 TB] Sector Sizes: 512 bytes logical, 4096 bytes physical Rotation Rate: 5980 rpm Device is: In smartctl database [for details use: -P show] ATA Version is: ACS-2, ACS-3 T13/2161-D revision 3b SATA Version is: SATA 3.1, 6.0 Gb/s (current: 6.0 Gb/s) Local Time is: Fri Dec 2 12:57:26 2016 CET SMART support is: Available - device has SMART capability. 10. I'd put money on there being nothing at all wrong with either disk, and it's actually a bad SATA cable or power cable. That was what i was thinking, but i replaced the Sata cables (also the complete psu (now have a corsair 550) and also (after that didn't work) changed from the sata controller to the onboard sata controller. both the same result (disabled disk after sector errors). Did you replace the SATA cable with a high-quality locking cable? Also, with 9 disks 550w SHOULD be enough, but is this one of Corsair's better power supplies or the low-end CX series? If your 3rd disk has this same issue, I'd replace the power supply with a higher quality unit that also has a bit more capacity (650w would be PLENTY). Meanwhile, I have to agree with your earlier conclusion ... The Corsair is a RMX550, the one with the modulair cables. I didn't replace it with a high quality cable, i have a set of sata cables (same for all the other disks) I don't have any smart status at this moment because i wanted to get a new disk asap, however i had an error in the log. That error i googled (i don't have the error available to me right now) that suggested that the disk was really broken.
  11. I have no real evidence or at least proven evidence. But the following was done: Changed the PSU (already wanted a more powerfull one (corsair rmx550). So that solves the whole powercable thing. And tried to move the disk from the lsi logic controller to the onboard controller (thus also used another sata cable, because the lsi uses sas cables). But all of this results in the same error. So no real prove, but i think that the things i did for at least 80% would sum things out. I still could have used the Seagate software on another PC, but i didn't do that because i was done with the problems returning and being afraid for my data.
  13. So after a few posts i think it is time to Introduce myself and my build. I am a new Unraid user for about 2 months now, enjoying the software very much (the disks i use a littlebit less, but that will be resolved quickly i hope). My Build: - Fractal Design Node 804 - Intel i5 (1151 - 6600K) - 64GB DDR4 - MSI Motherboard - LSI Logic SAS9211 controller (flashed in IT Mode) Disks: 3x Samsung EVO 850 500GB Cache disks (750GB usable) 4x 8TB Seagate ST8000AS0002 (2 parity 2 data disks) 2x 8TB Western Digital 8TB (third one on the way) 2x 4TB Seagate 1x 4TB WD Red Total 36TB Storage usable (for now) I Run a couple of Docker applications: - Plex Media server (plexpass) - Couchpotato - Sonarr - Plex Request.net - PlexPy - SabNZBD - CAdvisor - Docker monitoring And Run 2 Server 2016 VM's (1 ActiveDirectory and 1 Delivery controller for my XenApp test environment) Why i am not completely happy with the disks is that the Seagate 8TB Disks already are broken for 2 of the 4 drives, 1 is returned for RMA, i will wait when this one gets back and then will send the other one). For now i ordered a 8TB WD Red disk to replace one of the Seagate Disks. Pictures will be added
  14. So i have 4 of these disks in my setup (4x 8TB Seagate ST8000AS0002) 2x 8TB WD Red disks and 3x 4TB (seagate and wd). But from the first week of my Build (now 2 months old) there were some problems with disk1 in my Array (the 8TB Seagate disk). Disk was disabled and many sector errors. So i RMA'd the disk and ordered a new one (was on my wishlist) and replaced the broken disk with the new ordered disk. All was well for a couple of days, and then Disk1 was broken again, remember that this was the replaced new disk). Same happening sector errors so the drive was disabled. Re-added the disk and parity was calculated an restored the disk. Offcourse the problem was returning after a few days. So the status this moment is, send that broken disk to Seagate, ordered a 8TB WD disk to replace it. the replaced Seagate disk will be added later. So you can say my luck with these disks is not joyfull at this moment...
  15. Ok thank you very much, it isn't bad, but i don't want it to be anything wrong in the system. So this is explainable, so no problem!
