  1. Hi, any update on 1.6.(1)? I've pretty much switched to AV1 encoding now but I'm having to use my windows pc which isn't ideal as my pc isn't on long enough to do most of my encodes. Many thanks!
  2. I'm looking to upgrade my old APC BX1400UI to a bigger and rack mountable UPS to power my rack and I've shortlisted the following: APC SMC1500I-2UC It's right in the ballpark for the power range I'm looking at but I am trying to find out whether it can be monitored from Unraid via the LAN port. I have my Unraid server and a Dell R210 acting as my router so I would like both servers to have remote shutdown capability in the event of powerloss so I would like to have one that has network capability. It does have a network port (dubbed the APC SmartConnect) but its not a network port provided by a management card like the SMT and SMX series have. Does anyone have this UPS or another APC that has a SmartConnect network port and can confirm whether you can monitor it using Unraid's UPS daemon? Thanks
  3. Thanks! This fixed the adopting loop for me.
  4. I have my eye on the 3U 316 Pro from x-case, seems better specced then the logic case equivalent from servercase, ie. backplane supports SGPIO. Just wish they did an ATX power supply version so I don't have to buy a new PSU. I don't plan on getting anything until I've moved house in June, but I will keep an eye on your thread see what you get :).
  5. It's an option, I'm from the UK so where would be a good place to start, just ebay? I would still like recommendations however, I'm not really up to date in the networking area on which makes are reliable. Which ones give the best user interface, throughput and noise etc.
  6. I'm in the process of moving to a new house and I'm planning on properly networking the whole place around my unraid server and pfsense box. I'm planning on getting a comms cabinet with a patch panel and a half decent smart switch with 10gb SPF+ connections so I can get a 10gb link between unraid and my personal pc (probably using Mellanox Connectx-2 NICs). I'm having difficulty deciding on one to suit my needs, I've been mainly using HP in the past as I have a few 8 port unmanaged procurve switches that have never missed a beat. My requirements are: 16-24 1GB ports 2 or more SPF+ connections for use with SPF+ NICs Web interface smart management (Cause I'm not a fan of command line, and a bit of a newbie to advanced networking) Network segregation support (so I can stick vm/docker containers on a separate network using the same switch) Link aggregation support Quiet (fanless ideally) The only problem is I don't have a massive budget so I'd like to keep it in the sub £/$ 500 range but I'd like something that is reliable and just keeps running. So far I have looked at: HPE JH018A OfficeConnect 1420 - Cheap but not smart managed TP-Link T1700G-28TQ - Unsure of the make? any good? NETGEAR Insight GC728X-100EUS - Shame all 4 SPF ports aren't 10gb D-Link DGS-1510-28X - Again not sure on make I'm currently leaning towards the TP-Link since its cheap and gives 4 10gb SFP+ ports but I'm concerned you get what you pay for, so I'm open to opinions/other suggestions which would be very appreciated.
  7. Unfortunately, not. I started a ticket with Asus but they where no help at all, I don't have the emails anymore so I can't remember what they said. Unfortunately @chris78464 I ended up buying a new one. The only up side is they aren't that expensive. Even with the new one I can't get the KVM (the remote connection java bit) working so it a waste of money anyway. I'll be buying a Supermicro board as soon as i have the money. Sorry that wasn't the answer you where expecting.
  8. Thanks @opticon that indeed work at getting me pass that error, unfortunately it was then failing on another problem: I managed to fix this myself by changing ownership (recursively) of the authorized_keys directory to user/group 998. chown -R 998:998 .ssh For anyone else who has this problem I think it was down to me running the "New Permissions" tool on the appdata share which I know is not recommended, but I was fixing another access permission problem at the time back just before christmas. The container is now starting fine, just hope I wont get any further issues. Lessons learnt i guess. [EDIT] Wow it seems I really did mess things up, gitlab started and all the project where there but it said there was no code repositories available in each project, I shortly needed a new pair of underwear. I've tried to change (recursive) ownership of the git-data directory as well but after restart gitlab still doesn't want to see whats inside the repositories directory. I guess if I can't fix this I might have to start the gitlab container from scratch, and see if I have a copy of all my repositories somewhere.
  9. Hi, I've booted up my container that I have not used since before Christmas and it won't start, previously it was running fine. It looks like its failing when chef is building the environment, I found this in the '/appdata/gitlab-ce/log/reconfigure' log file: Note: None of the other log directories have 2018 date logs. Anyone got any idea what the problem might be? I don't know if this is related to the 6.4.x upgrade that I did last week. Previously I was on 6.3.5.
  10. Has anyone setup Duplicati to connect to a Minio docker (s3 compatible backend) via the letsencrypt docker? I've attempted to set this up, hitting mino via https in a browser works fine, no errors, but when I try and point Duplicati at it i get the following error: Failed to connect: The request signature we calculated does not match the signature you provided. Check your key and signing method. Pointing Duplicati directly at the mino docker via non ssl works fine. Wasn't sure which docker container thread i should be asking this in but any help would be appreciated.
  11. That looks interesting, couple of bad points as far as I can see. You need to run multiple instances of Minio to keep computers data separate (management nightmare, ports etc). Also Duplicati is a web browser front end, looks good but might be a bit jarring to family members who are used to native os applications. Closest thing I've seen so far however.
  12. I am probably going to upgrade to Crashplan business to fix my unraid backup needs seems like $10 a month is pretty standard in that space, however I am putting money down on Crashplan raising the price in 1-2 years time. I wondered what is everyone doing for an alternative to the computer to computer backup problem that crashplan home provided? I currently have a few pcs in my house backing up and my family pcs backing up to my server via crashplan and i do not know what to substitute it with. Currently looking into nextcloud but that's more of a dropbox access anywhere solution where I want a client side encrypted pure backup solution. Any suggestions?
  13. Thanks I'll take a look, but if I can avoid re-uploading my 10TB it would be nice.
  14. That is good news I am thinking of migrating myself, since Blackblaze and Carbonite don't seem to support Linux this seems the only option for continued unraid operation without a vm. I will eagerly await your reply.
  15. I updated the firmware on my module last week but I made the huge mistake of not taking note that you have to get the firmware that is specific for the motherboard. As you can guess the kvm is now unusable it powers up and the motherboard detects its presence but is not able to access it. The web gui loads via the lan but I am unable to login with any username/password combination I can think of. I have tired re flashing the firmware using the bootable usb drive method but I get an error from yaflash saying it timed out getting the flashinfo, I'm guessing it can't read from it due to the motherboard unable to read the module. I was going to start fresh using the support cd that came with the module but I have unfortunately misplaced it. It seems you cannot download an ISO of the support cd from the ASUS website so I was wondering if anyone would be able to grab theirs and rip it to an iso for me? If anyone else has any suggestions of getting the correct firmware back on without the CD I will also be interested. If I cant fix this I may have to resort to buying another module Thanks [EDIT] FYI the motherboard is the Z10PA-U8
