  1. hi all, i have a disk that has died, (disk 1) so i have purchased a couple of new drives. i got 3x 8tb drives which are larger than my parity drive of 5tb. the aim is to replace the parity drive with an 8tb drive. then use the old 5tb parity drive as disk 1. what would be the procedure to do this? i am currently running a parity sync and added an 8tb drive as the second parity. i assume i need to finish the rebuild on the 8tb parity, then remove the old 5tb parity. also is there anyway to move the 2nd parity disk into the primary parity slot or would i need to rebuild a new primary parity drive? many thanks
  2. https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.co.uk%2Fulk%2Fitm%2F191999081163 this is the card I have flash the card to IT mode which is really easy to do and it will support 8 drives per card. I currently have 2 of these cards and am planning on getting a third
  3. Very interesting tool thank you for suggesting it. i let the build complete, replaced disk 2 with an un-assigned disk and went to rebuild. Was getting 45 - 50mbps build speed again. i powered down the server and physically removed the 1tb drive from the server. Powered on and started the rebuild on the new disk (drive 2) and am now getting the usual 100+mbps speeds. will end up replacing all the smaller drives in the array when I next get paid
  4. thank you for the reply, i will try out the docker you suggested.
  5. i have recently epxerienced a few issues with a cable from the raid controller. one of my 5tb drives got knocked off the array, i tried swapping cable 3 and 4 (both connected to the same 8087 connector on the same HBA) I purchased a new drive to replace the drive and used a different cable from my second HBA, had to rebuild the contents on disk 4 and had a normal speed of 100 - 150mbps. i ran the old 5tb drive through a preclear and it passed so i assume the raid controller or cable was to blame yesterday evening drive 3 got knocked off the array (drive 1 - 4) used the same connector on the same raid controller i turned off the server this morning and swapped the cables so that no drives are using that cable, turned the server back on and get loads of read errors and a wierd tick then motor noise repeating from disk 2 (an old 1tb). i turned the server back off and checked my cables are connected firmly, now turned it back on. - Drive 2 still says reallocated sectors (but is still online) - Rebuild of disk 3 is running at 50mbps Disk 3 is a 4tb SAS drive using an adapter to change SAS to SATA is there anything that can be causing the slow rebuild speed besides the sector count of disk 2 please find my attached diag file i intend to replace disk 3 once this rebuild has completed and am also going to purchase 2 new cables plus maybe a new controller when i get paid lissy-diagnostics-20191107-2351.zip
  6. okay, thank you for the reply. i shal ltry that when people have finished watching stuff.. Many thanks
  7. hi, sorry if this has already been posted. i did have a search and could not find anything related to my problem. i have got my server running with 1x 500gb cache drive and all the shares that i want to use the cache drive are set to "yes". i set the schedule to run the mover script every day at 03:00 but for some reason it will not move any files off the cache drive and onto the array. now if i click the move now button the the main page it will move all the files from the cache drive. Is there anyway to make the schedule work correctly so i dont have to manually click the button? i have attached a copy of my diagnostics incase it is needed. also the time is set correctly within unraid tower-diagnostics-20190110-1703.zip
  8. i have been experimenting over the last few hours, i stopped all my dockers and performace improved. i then started them one by one and when i started Binhex-madusa it seemed to start the issues. i am currently running just Plex, NZBGET & Binhex-Sickchilli "which i have just installed and testing" and touch wood performance seems to have improved. fingers crossed. i also took your advice and there was an update so just updated and rebooted the server.
  9. i just updated yesterday.. is there another update?
  10. thank you for your reply please find my attached diagnostics file tower-diagnostics-20181021-0012.zip
  11. the docker install page is still saying the same as quoted above and hasnt changed. however the log says it has installed after 10 minutes of waiting. now i click on the dockers tab at the top and i have just got the swirly loading thing there, the rest of the web GUI works perfectly. well apart from the main Dashboard tab.
  12. hi guys, i have been experiencing issues with my server for a couple of months now. this seems to happen at the end of every month. My dockers become unresponsive and if i go to either the dashboard or the Docker page i am just presented with a loading screen, it will occasionally show up after a while for about a minute or so then it will become unresponsive again. i have kept all my dockers up to date and have also updated the server "recently to 6.6.2" i have formatted the flash drive and started again with no dockers or plugins just rebuilding and starting the array and it is doing the same now. all my dockers fail to respond and i am left looking at a loading page. i am able to stop all the dockers and it appears that i can restart them one after another and sometimes it works but as soon as i instal another docker it throws the entire thing off again.. i am presented with errors in the log saying about failed upstream nginx. the log of installing the docker also looks like this [code]IMAGE ID [latest]: Pulling from linuxserver/mcmyadmin2. 13. hi guys, any help would be greatly appreciated. i have been running my unraid server for a while now and all of a sudden i got an error on the unraid web gui saying file or folder could not be found or does not exist "something to do with docker" i restarted the server and now i get issues where the gui freezes and take a while to load and if i watch video from the server "no transcoding or anything" it freezes and buffers the video file. plex is a nightmare and my write speeds seem to be impacted too. please find my attached diagnostics file. i know about the drive issues and high sector count but like i said it has been running flawlessly with the drives in the current condition and has been running for about a year and a half with the same drives. i have checked the cables and disconnected the raid controllers and re-seated them. tower-diagnostics-20180422-1347.zip
  14. this can be done by steam, check out https://arstechnica.co.uk/gaming/2017/01/how-to-build-a-local-steam-cache-server/ has instructions on adding a docker image to a server, just change directories etc
  15. not sure if your still looking, i bought 2 of these. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Fujitsu-9211-8i-D2607-A11-LSISAS2008-SAS-SATA-RAID-SAS-controller-LSI-9240-8I/191999081163?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2060353.m2749.l2649 i live in the UK but im sure they will ship to canada follow the cross-flashing instructions to flash the firmware to 9211-8I IT mode, very easy to do. https://forums.lime-technology.com/topic/57815-fujitsu-d2607-8i-crossflash-to-lsi-9211-8i/
