Did you ever find a solution for this issue? I have one folder that will not move and i get a message similar to yours about the directory and file permissions. I have used the common problems plugin and don't get anything relevant back from that. I have run the Docker Safe New Permissions several times and i still get the • 198 folder(s) with a permission other than 'drwxrwxrwx'. Trying to figure this out.

It doesn't matter if i connect smb or afp. there is a share that i can't copy into. its public. i can copy a file into it as a guest but not as a logged in user of that share. I don't even know where to start to fix that. What do I need to do to fix that?

I have tried 3 other usb drives with new and from backup. I was able to boot from the usb drives on two other computers but not this one. I was able to boot from a Ununtu live usb but then all i can see is the pointer. Going to unplug all the drives and go from there. Not really sure where do to go from here.

I have another unraid server that runs unraid 5. I put the usbs in that machine. they boot right into unraid, both of them no issue. So what kind of hardware issue could the main machine have that would prevent it from booting properly? I have tried different ram, unplugging all the drives.

I have tried all the usb ports on the system and all give the same result. I guess I need to see if I have another flash drive that would work.

I am trying to manually update from 6.3.5 if I try for a clean install I get the following error end Kernel panic - not syncing: VFS: Unable to mount root FS on unknown block(0,0) if I create the usb with the backup files I copied of the usb before I started updating and put it in the machine and start it I get the following Failed to load COM32 file /syslinux/menu.c32 What have I done?

Well, I guess I will be doing this the manual way. I will look up how to do that, I am guessing there is documentation on that. My motherboard only has two slots so might find some larger ram. Thank you for your help!

Ok i replace the cable for another one that I had and brought the server back up. still says faulty though. Smart self test completes without error. I am 5% through a read check. I have attached latest diagnostics file. jarvis-diagnostics-20171007-1554.zip

I checked the Bios and it doesn't seem to have the ability to change that setting, I don't even see any setting for the SATA controller. Attached are diagnostics as of 5 minutes ago. jarvis-diagnostics-20171007-1554.zip

I haven't had any issues so far and i haven't made any changes so i was surprised to see that my parity was disabled when I checked this server. Not sure why or what to do about it. I have attached the diagnostics file. Where do I go from here? jarvis-diagnostics-20170928-2148.zip

IS there specific info available about setting up with existing data? i haven't found any yet.

thank you all for the information. I was able to boot the new computer from a new usb all the way to the login.

I have tried all usb ports and two drives and I get the same result. I have checked the Bios and the usb is listed as the first boot device. Is there a way to setup a new usb with the old drive data drives? I have another computer i could move the drives to. I need to save up and get a v6 lic but it will have to wait for now
