  1. Mine is still running strong too. 14 drives installed, just upgraded to Unraid 6.1.9 - no problems. Slow parity at 57MB/sec but I've got the time. I ended up installing the 120mm fan wall and a 750W power supply - those stock fans were too much!
  2. Just to clarify - these units will run Unraid 5.0 with 3TB SATA drives? They come with the SATA hot-swap carriers already installed? Thanks and I apologize if these questions were answered previously.
  3. Thanks for the info. Just amazing how low the price goes every year - I remember plunking $145 for the first set of 2TB drives...
  4. Dumb question from a noob: I currently have 7 drives @ 7200 rpm each in my Unraid. If I stick in a 5400 rpm, will I see a performance hit? So far I've been holding out for the Hitachi and WD 7200 rpm to go on sale - was that a mistake? Thanks
  5. Sorry for the late response, but I have a few questions on the process: Did you end up putting Slimserver on a separate IDE hard drive, or the USB stick? And is there a tutorial that you used for how to install Slimserver for the complete noob? I've seen a few posts where a full Slackware install was utilized, but I'm looking for something simplistic with my UnRaid 4.4.2 with UnMenu. Thanks in advance
  6. Oops - nevermind. I see from the website that it is included. Sorry about that. Now for another question - did the motherboard BIOS need to be updated prior to running the Unraid software?
  7. I am planning on using this motherboard as well with the AMD Sempron 140 Sargas 2.7ghz processor. Since I am a complete noob - do I need to buy a heatsink/fan combo for this too? Thanks, and I apologize if this is off topic.
  8. long time lurker, first time poster. I am considering the Abit AB9 for my first Unraid server based on the reviews on this forum. I have 3 PATA 300gb IDE drives that I would like to start with, but I noticed a post from 2007 that the IDE is not recognized by the Unraid software. I plan on having a 1TB SATA as the parity drive to go with the 3 PATA drives, and add new SATA drives as my budget permits. Therefore, is this motherboard still the best to start out with? Thanks in advance
