  1. Just received my new registration key in less that 15 min after I sent the GUID.
  2. This isn't 100% safe either. I was unsure of the Moskeyto so I bought 2 of them to see if they had different GUID's. They did so I registered one. It would seem that every one of them doesn't have the same GUID but they may pull from an unknown number of GUID's and allow some duplicates. Limetech was cool about the whole thing so no big deal. I was more worried that Tom would think I was trying to pull something. I gladly paid for UnRaid and want to see Tom profit off of his creation so if there must be a blacklist so be it. It would be nice to be able to check beforehand though. As Raj suggested I'll just stay with the big name for now on. I just emailed the GUID of my Sansdisk Titanium in to register it. The MosKeyto is so small I'll find a use for it.
  3. I received the same email for my Lacie MosKeyto. Just ordered a Sansdisk Cruzer Titanium and an internal mount for it to replace it. The current blacklisted drives from the server installation page are: Blacklisted Flash devices There are a number of USB Flash devices that do not have a valid serial number and can not be registered: Lacie MosKeyto Delock USB2.0 Nano Memory stick Maxell ONYX There may be others.
  4. Went and changed my vote. I'm trying to not get my hopes up but this would truly be a match made in Heaven.
  5. So what exactly is everyone pissed at Plex for? As for as I can tell they have followed by the GPL. Elan has even stated that the XBMC team could make XBMC work with Plex Media Server.. Everyone is free to choose and it's great to have choices.
  6. I can understand that point of view but I like and use both. The Plex media manager is really a step forward and integrating it into an unRaid server would be a match made in heaven. On the other hand they need to improve on the player side, since Mac minis are expensive. If they can get the Apple TV player up to snuff it will be a step and we have to see what the LG rollout brings. There has been some hints of some "powered by XBMC" hardware hinted at on the XBMC forum so maybe CES will bring us some announcements there. Now that Dharma is finally out there should be improvements of the XBMC side as well. I'll probably keep both since I love playing with them.
  7. Next time I replace a drive and boot up I'll post the power draw peak. It will probably be next week. I am using the stock fans set on their lowest setting. 2 Scythe S-FLEX SFF21D 120mm(800rpm) in the lower 2 slots up front. An Antec drive bay adapter in the top bays with it's fan set on low. Only one drive up top right now. The highest temp I have seen during a parity check was 37C. I may replace the S-Flex fans with the 1200 rpm models since It gets hot here in the summer. I also haven't made up my mind about putting a fan in the side opening. Right now it is blocked off. I used what I had on hand to get up and running so I could see how I liked unRaid. The Antec drive insert is for the Nine Hundred and while it fits and works fine you can't remove the filter while it's installed. I usually just use the Dyson to clean them but since I'm loving unRaid so much I may move over to another case.
  8. All Plex users need to go vote for an unRaid compatible version of Plex Media Server. http://forums.plexapp.com/index.php/topic/21662-linux-support/ It would be great to be able to move the media server onto my unRaid box. If you don't use Plex because its Mac only that will change, they are working on Windows and Linux versions. All XBMC users need to give it a look. We use both Plex and XBMC but if Plex can keep improving on Plex 9 we may switch over completely when the Windows version comes out.
  9. Please keep us posted as you play around with it. I had been thinking of getting one of these to play with myself. There is a version of http://www.amahi.org/ for it. Now that I may be able to tie it into unRaid I guess I'll have to get one.
  10. Caution lurker decloaking..... First I'd like to thank everyone on this board for all of the great info on unRAID. I'm a WHS refugee that has jumped over to unRAID. I had intended to build a new WHS when Vail was released but since Microsoft has screwed the pooch once more I have moved on and I'm glad I did. I had been collecting parts for the WHS build when the "Vail fail" announcement was made and decided to try to build my own unRaid server with what I already had and ended up with a build that looks pretty much like roastdawgg's in the pimp my rig thread except his wiring is neater and he's a better photographer. Antec Three Hundred Biostar TH55B Intel Core i3540 Corsair 430cx 3x WD 1TB EADS 2x WD 2TB EARS one of which is my parity drive. 1x 1.5TB Samsung EcoGreen F3 After copying over about 5TB and testing the server over a few weeks it is now our main video server and can supply 2 HD feeds and 1 SD feed simultaneously with no problem(one of the players can't play HD but I think the server could handle 3 HD.) I will now move the rest of our videos over move the drives into the un RAID box and the WHS will be just for PC/Mac backups and redundant photo storage and other miscellaneous digital files that need a home. Anyway unRaid is great and I though some forum readers would appreciate power usage information for an i3-540 system with the above drives. Idle with all drives spun down- 43 watts Idle with all drives spun up- 65 watts Parity check 90 watts 1 HD movie stream(1 drive spun up) 46 watts Copying file to server(2 drives spun up) 68 watts The i3 is very efficient and basically idles all of the time. After I become more comfortable I may set up handbreak and transcoding to use some of the processors capability but I am very happy with the setup as is. The server is almost silent. Thanks again to all of the forum posters that have shared their knowledge and made my build possible.
