  1. Tyrindor so I just shutdown the system add the new 3TB HDD start up the system and select the new drive for Parity and do nothing with the old one or just assign it over to Data array and then format to XFS?
  2. I have a 3TB HDD that I would like to use for Parity and was hoping to get instructions on how to do this, maybe they are on here somewhere but I have not found them, I have attached an image of my Disk Array. I would also like to convert my drives over to XFS and was wondering if there is a simple way to do this too?
  3. I currently have 16GB DDR4 installed in my system and I have allocated 8GB to my Windows 10 VM and the rest is there for unRAID and my Dockers. Based on the provided screenshot do I need to upgrade to 32GB?
  4. I actually changed the pinning and the performance has decreased. I assigned CPU pinning to the pairs of CPU's and isolated 6 from unRAID and then assigned those to my VM but its not good, stuttering in games and Youtube vids.

I would just like to know if the Dashboard System Status page is showing the CPU cores as physical and hyperthreaded core next to one another, if so would it be a good idea to change the CPU pinning to reflect this. For example my current CPU pinning is setup as follows. 6,7,8,9,10,11 assigned to my VM 0,1 Plex container 2 Sonaar 3 Sab 4,5 unRAID OS Does it make more sense to use the physical core and its hyperthreaded core for the same Container, ie Plex using 0,6 I have attached a screenshot of my Dashboard.
  6. Is there a simple way to setup my unRAID system to automatically detect newly inserted USB devices while using my Windows 10 VM, I am currently running 6.1.9
  7. I must be missing something simple here but how do I create a script to powerdown my server via Putty and also stop my Windows 10 VM?

I was having issues with stuttering in Youtube and I did some testing and noticed that I had increased issues if using Plex on another device while running a Unigine Benchmark on my Windows 10 VM. To resolve the issue I have pinned CPU cores to certain dockers and I have also pinned cores 6-11 for the Win 10 VM. CPU Pinning Windows 10 VM 6-11 Plex 4-5 Sonaar 3 Sabnzbd 2 I have left cores 0-1 unpinned as I believe this is a good idea for unRAID to function correctly.
  9. In an effort to resolve this issue I have created another Windows 10 VM and this one is currently working with my mouse and keyboard, really not sure why the other one stopped working. I have installed the new VM to DISK 5 (SSD) on my array which is not part of any SHAREs on my system, I did this to see if it would be faster that using the Cache SSD for the OS and then another DISK on the system as storage.
  10. I just created an Ubuntu VM and my keyboard, mouse and XBOX 360 controller work normally, I have not changed the USB ports from the Windows 10 VM.

So I had everything working in my VM but wanted to add a new SSD to my array as a normal disk in the array, I did this and then created a new Share which would only be used by this disk and this disk would not be used in any other share, my intention was to keep it as an SSD for games only in the VM. I got it all setup and booted into the VM and none of my USB devices are working. I shutdown the VM and checked all the settings for USB and see no issues, started it up again and its still not working. I then decided to reboot the entire machine and after booting back up and starting the VM the USB devices still dont work, any ideas?   12. I managed to resolve the issue, there is a setting in the Realtek HD Audio manager that lets you disable the automatic detection when an audio device is connected, disabling this resolved the issue.
  13. I have tested a Ubuntu live USB and that worked fine with my headphones, I booted back into the Windows 10 VM and get no audio, it does not even detect any hardware connected to the analogue audio jacks in the Realtek software
  14. I will try a live cd tonight and see if it works. The motherboard is new for me so I cannot confirm it worked previously. The speakers and cable work as I have tested with my phone.
  15. I have installed the Realtek drivers but for some reason the analogue audio is still not detected only the optical.
  16. Yes that's right I am using the analogue connections on the motherboard but get no audio. When I check in Windows settings I cannot change from the optical audio option to analogue.

  18. I have built my new unRAID machine with a Gigabyte X99-SLI motherboard which has an onboard audio chip that I would like to use for audio in this VM, when I check in unRAID it only seems to detect the HD audio with the optical output and my GTX 970 via HDMI. I do not have HDMI on my monitor and my speakers do not have optical input. Is there anyway to output motherboard audio without using the HD optical connection or the HDMI option? I am building a new unRAID machine with X99-SLI motherboard and a 5930k, I require a secondary video card as there is no onboard video with X99, can I mix ATi and Nvidia video cards on the same board? My plan is to use a low cost ATi card in PCI-E slot 1 for unRAID and a GTX 970 in another PCI-E slot for a Windows 10 VM which will be used for gaming.
  20. I managed to sell my main gaming rigs CPU, motherboard, RAM, case and PSU and have purchased the following used parts for a steal of a deal to build my new unRAID machine. Recent Purchases 5930k X99-SLI Gigabyte motherboard 4x 4GB DDR 4 G Skill Antec P280 case Current parts MSi GTX 970 Seasonic 750W GOLD rated PSU 5x 2TB HDD 1x 3TB HDD 2x 240GB SSD I also still have my unRAID machine online while I wait for the new parts to arrive, it consists of all of the above HDD and 1 SSD and an older AMD A4 APU and 8GB of DDR3 in a Silverstone case, I will update this post again when I have moved everything over to the new build and got it all up and running.

  22. Not sure I do need all of that throughput as I only intend to run one VM of Windows 10 as my main rig,no other VMs are required. I only have one gtx 970 which would be for the windows 10 VM.
  23. So it's just a case of moving all the drives to the new pc build and turning it up and setting up the static ip with the new Mac address?
  24. Thanks for the response guys, I currently only own the 4790k and it is brand new. The other option that is appealing is going the X99 route and getting a 5820k. I just need to figure out which motherboard would be a good choice as they are all expensive and have many features. I think any board with more than 6 Sata ports would be great.
  25. Thanks for the quick response. I plan on reducing my PC count by one and just using the new build as my main rig for Windows 10 VM gaming and browsing and unraid with plex and sab. I have a 4790k in hand just need a decent motherboard and 16GB of ram.
