  1. Thank you for the prompt response, I restarted the server and it is working fine now but next time it does this again I will check that the NIC LED's are flashing. Thanks again!
  2. Hello All, I have been running unRAID 4.7 for a while now without any problems but recently it will be running fine then beep a few times and then it is unreachable by the web page, telnet and of course my xbmc. Has anybody heard of this happening before. It comes back on line after a few hours but I want to know why it goes off line and stop it from doing that. I searched the forums and google but found nothing.
  3. I was using YES/AUTO/LEVEL 2 I just turned it off so now its just NO and it boots but does this mean that unRAID is no longer in control of the power for my hard drives? Do I really want ACPI off? And yes I tried a memtest, the memory seems fine
  4. just quickly pressed it. well then after held it down to power off so i could put in the other OS USB stick.
  5. I installed the clean powerdown script from unMenu and restarted and the hit the power button and then it said my hard drives were not formated, luckily i have two licences so i just shut it down and put in the other stick and booted back up but obviously the power button did not do a clean shutdown of the system, what did i do wrong? Also I ordered a UPS
  6. still don't have time to work on this yet but I would be ever so greatfull if you could show me your go script that includes powerdown and ups data. I am planing on ordering a ups for my unRAID server so the power outage issue never causes this problem and once i get the go script i don't have to worry about this again
  7. I guess I am used to windows and mac shutting down when i hit the power button. Thank you all for the advice. I am too tired to deal with this today, I will look into it this weekend. and yes a UPS would be a good idea.
  8. Every time unRAID is turned off with the power button or a power outage (we just lost power last night) it does not come back up. I have to turn off the server take out the USB key and put the 4.7 files back on and edit the go file to remove the cache_dir. ... crud and now that is not even working, why is this server so fragile, any change and it won't work... sorry this is getting frustrating I can't even provide a syslog because it wont get to a point where i can access it. As you can guess this is getting quite annoying. Does unRAID really have to be shutdown through the web interface every time it is shut down? if so this feels like a rather large downfall of the software. I am hoping I am wrong about this.
  9. yes i have 2 x SuperMicro AOC-SASLP-MV8, so basically it loaded the drivers for the first one and therefore does not need to load for the second but tries anyway and thats what all of those errors are for?
  10. so everything in the package folder was added by unMenu should i just delete that folder for now?
  11. My server seems to be running fine now but I just checked the syslog from unMenu and saw the errors in the attached image. I am brand new to Linux, can somebody tell me if this is something i need to worry about or not, it showed up last time I had my server on too. and of course if you have the time please explain some of the error to me so i can learn if it is a problem or not. errors started with May 25 18:08:36 Elephant kernel: [803]: scst: __scst_register_target_template:293:***ERROR***: Failed to register target template mvst_scst (Routine) and ended with May 25 18:08:36 Elephant kernel: Pid: 803, comm: modprobe Not tainted 2.6.32.9-unRAID #8 (Errors) Thank you in advance for any responses Parts used Case : NORCO RPC-4220 MoBo : SUPERMICRO MBD-C2SEE-O LGA 775 Intel G43 ATX Intel Motherboard OS : purchased the usb pre installed OS from Lime Tech CPU : Intel Celeron 430 Conroe-L 1.8GHz 512KB L2 Cache LGA 775 35W Single-Core RAM : Kingston 2GB 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1066 (PC3 8500) Desktop Memory Model KVR1066D3N7/2G PSU : CORSAIR CMPSU-650TX 650W HDD'sx4 : SAMSUNG Spinpoint F4 HD204UI 2TB 5400 RPM SATA 3.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive -Bare Drive controler cards x2 : SuperMicro AOC-SASLP-MV8 Cablex2 : NORCO C-SFF8087-D SFF-8087 to SFF-8087 Internal Multilane SAS Cable cable : 3Ware CBL-SFF8087OCF-05M SFF-8087 to Discrete Forward Breakout Cable syslog-2011-05-25.txt
  12. oh and i guess as long as i have it up and running here is my syslog syslog-2011-05-24.txt
  13. here is my current go data, it is working again #!/bin/bash # Start the Management Utility /usr/local/sbin/emhttp & #Cache Directories /boot/cache_dirs -d 5 -m 3 -M 5 -w # Start unMENU sleep 10 /boot/unmenu/uu what was that section that i removed doing? cd /boot/packages && find . -name '*.auto_install' -type f -print | sort | xargs -n1 sh -c
  14. turned it off as in shut down system took out usb and removed that section from go then put usb back in and restarted system. that should stop it right?
