  1. Upgraded from 6.9.0-beta25 to 6.9.1. I am seeing poor video performance for my windows 10 kvm home theater setup. Have a Nvidia gtx 960 assigned to this kvm. Are there any known issues and fixes to improve pefromace?
  2. Upgrading from 6.9.0-beta25 to 6.9.0-rc2 Sluggish WIN10 KVM performance on rc2 Hi, I have been missing from the forums for a while which goes to tell how trouble free unraid has been. Recently battled with horrible win10 kvm performance after upgrading to rc2 and had a hard time pinpointing the root cause. I didn't anticipate unraid version to be the problem since it was a while after the upgrade I used the kvm. While on rc2, the cores dedicated to the kvm were almost at 100% just by opening a browser. After I rolled back to beta25 the kvm is working as expected. If this is not a known issue I am happy to provide additional info to help diagnose the problem with rc2.
  3. Ouch, thanks for pointing out. Saw rc2 on top of the thread topic and assumed this was recent.

  5. <rant> Feels frustrating when the docker just stops working and you realize a week later something isnt working and dont have time for another week to sit in front of the computer to pull up and try to diagnose what's working. I guess getting old means we need 'stuff' to work, there are times when we have ability and interest to spend tinkering but not always. <end rant> I stopped my deluge container until I can get some time to sit and figure out what's wrong. Would be nice to see in bold letters, change xx variable to yy to get things working to minimize effort in diagnosis. Appreciate the effort by binhex and team, guess the pains of growing up.
  6. I had my Win10 VM serving as basement projector HTPC has been working great for a while. Over the last month, I have been having trouble where the sound would beep after a while. It appears to be random and usually occurs after about 10 mins of watching a video. The video jitters slowly and the sound 'beeps'. If I stop the video, the beep continues for about a minute or so and then stops. I have been trying to isolate the issue over the last several weeks, some of which are: changing the cables between my htpc-receiver, receiver-projector, changing graphics cards, creating completely new VM from scratch, hooking the hdmi cable from server to a monitor directly changing the allocated ram from 6GB to 12GB changing the pinned, CPUs from 6-7 to 2-3 and 3,6,7 change the VM raw image mode from SATA to IDE Changing the media player from JRIVER to VLC etc. I am unable to pinpoint the problem and have a feeling that it may have to do with the VM. I am reaching out to community to get some help. I have spent a fair amount of my time and resources on my audio equipment and without the server powering the media, I am feeling frustrated over the last couple of weeks. Any help trying to identify the issue would be welcome. Copied here is the xml from the VM: <domain type='kvm'> <name>Win10HTV62-2</name> <uuid>7bc2004f-a856-eeae-8c7e-99eecd4ca3ee</uuid> <description>Win10HTV62-2</description> <metadata> <vmtemplate xmlns="unraid" name="Windows 10" icon="windows.png" os="windows10"/> </metadata> <memory unit='KiB'>13107200</memory> <currentMemory unit='KiB'>13107200</currentMemory> <memoryBacking> <nosharepages/> </memoryBacking> <vcpu placement='static'>4</vcpu> <cputune> <vcpupin vcpu='0' cpuset='1'/> <vcpupin vcpu='1' cpuset='2'/> <vcpupin vcpu='2' cpuset='3'/> <vcpupin vcpu='3' cpuset='7'/> </cputune> <os> <type arch='x86_64' machine='pc-i440fx-2.7'>hvm</type> <loader readonly='yes' type='pflash'>/usr/share/qemu/ovmf-x64/OVMF_CODE-pure-efi.fd</loader> <nvram>/etc/libvirt/qemu/nvram/7bc2004f-a856-eeae-8c7e-99eecd4ca3ee_VARS-pure-efi.fd</nvram> </os> <features> <acpi/> <apic/> <hyperv> <relaxed state='on'/> <vapic state='on'/> <spinlocks state='on' retries='8191'/> <vendor_id state='on' value='none'/> </hyperv> </features> <cpu mode='host-passthrough'> <topology sockets='1' cores='2' threads='2'/> </cpu> <clock offset='localtime'> <timer name='hypervclock' present='yes'/> <timer name='hpet' present='no'/> </clock> <on_poweroff>destroy</on_poweroff> <on_reboot>restart</on_reboot> <on_crash>restart</on_crash> <devices> <emulator>/usr/local/sbin/qemu</emulator> <disk type='file' device='cdrom'> <driver name='qemu' type='raw'/> <source file='/mnt/user/VM62/Windows10x64.iso'/> <target dev='hda' bus='ide'/> <readonly/> <boot order='2'/> <address type='drive' controller='0' bus='0' target='0' unit='0'/> </disk> <disk type='file' device='cdrom'> <driver name='qemu' type='raw'/> <source file='/mnt/user/VM62/virtio-win-0.1.118-2.iso'/> <target dev='hdb' bus='ide'/> <readonly/> <address type='drive' controller='0' bus='0' target='0' unit='1'/> </disk> <disk type='file' device='disk'> <driver name='qemu' type='qcow2' cache='writeback'/> <source file='/mnt/cache/VM62/Win10HTV62/vdisk1.img'/> <target dev='hdc' bus='ide'/> <boot order='1'/> <address type='drive' controller='0' bus='1' target='0' unit='0'/> </disk> <controller type='usb' index='0' model='ich9-ehci1'> <address type='pci' domain='0x0000' bus='0x00' slot='0x07' function='0x7'/> </controller> <controller type='usb' index='0' model='ich9-uhci1'> <master startport='0'/> <address type='pci' domain='0x0000' bus='0x00' slot='0x07' function='0x0' multifunction='on'/> </controller> <controller type='usb' index='0' model='ich9-uhci2'> <master startport='2'/> <address type='pci' domain='0x0000' bus='0x00' slot='0x07' function='0x1'/> </controller> <controller type='usb' index='0' model='ich9-uhci3'> <master startport='4'/> <address type='pci' domain='0x0000' bus='0x00' slot='0x07' function='0x2'/> </controller> <controller type='pci' index='0' model='pci-root'/> <controller type='ide' index='0'> <address type='pci' domain='0x0000' bus='0x00' slot='0x01' function='0x1'/> </controller> <controller type='virtio-serial' index='0'> <address type='pci' domain='0x0000' bus='0x00' slot='0x03' function='0x0'/> </controller> <interface type='bridge'> <mac address='52:54:00:bb:f8:98'/> <source bridge='br0'/> <model type='virtio'/> <address type='pci' domain='0x0000' bus='0x00' slot='0x02' function='0x0'/> </interface> <serial type='pty'> <target port='0'/> </serial> <console type='pty'> <target type='serial' port='0'/> </console> <channel type='unix'> <target type='virtio' name='org.qemu.guest_agent.0'/> <address type='virtio-serial' controller='0' bus='0' port='1'/> </channel> <input type='mouse' bus='ps2'/> <input type='keyboard' bus='ps2'/> <hostdev mode='subsystem' type='pci' managed='yes'> <driver name='vfio'/> <source> <address domain='0x0000' bus='0x02' slot='0x00' function='0x0'/> </source> <address type='pci' domain='0x0000' bus='0x00' slot='0x04' function='0x0'/> </hostdev> <hostdev mode='subsystem' type='pci' managed='yes'> <driver name='vfio'/> <source> <address domain='0x0000' bus='0x02' slot='0x00' function='0x1'/> </source> <address type='pci' domain='0x0000' bus='0x00' slot='0x05' function='0x0'/> </hostdev> <hostdev mode='subsystem' type='pci' managed='yes'> <driver name='vfio'/> <source> <address domain='0x0000' bus='0x00' slot='0x14' function='0x0'/> </source> <address type='pci' domain='0x0000' bus='0x00' slot='0x06' function='0x0'/> </hostdev> <hostdev mode='subsystem' type='usb' managed='no'> <source> <vendor id='0x03f0'/> <product id='0x0325'/> </source> <address type='usb' bus='0' port='1'/> </hostdev> <memballoon model='virtio'> <address type='pci' domain='0x0000' bus='0x00' slot='0x08' function='0x0'/> </memballoon> </devices> </domain> Attached is a video using the JRIVER media player showing the issue. There are two VMs in the server, first is running on GTX 950 named Win10V62 (doesn't have issues) second is running on GTX 960 and named Win10HTV62-2 (this VM is being referenced in this thread and the name will correspond to the diagnostic logs). 7. binhex - In have set my ip addresses to start at 10.10.1.1. I would think that should be the LAN network value. isnt it?
  8. Adding snapshots of my delugevpn docker setup for a fellow user who needs some help. This post is for reference only to share my setup pictures and I am not asking for help!
  9. Hi - I upgraded my server to Unraid 6.2 from 6.1.9 and subsequently upgraded my cache to a 1TB SSD from a 750 spin drive. Everytime I reboot my server, the cache drive gets set to the older spin drive and I have to stop the file system, change the cache drive to the SSD. Has anyone seen this behavior and any recommendation on what should I be looking at to fix this? Thanks!
  10. Rob - How do you toggle off a plugin? Did you mean uninstall and reinstall? I just tried that with the nerd plugin tools but haven't rebooted the system. Can you please elaborate on how to toggle an installed plugin?
  11. I just uninstalled the nerd tools pack and re-installed it by searching in the apps. Get the same error. Maybe there is a conflicting plugin I have in the system? root@Tower:~# screen screen: error while loading shared libraries: libelf.so.0: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
  12. Hi - Upgraded to v6.2 from 6.1.9 and I cannot start screen anymore, get a library error (below). I have copied a screenshot below the list of installed plugins. Any advice how to get this fixed? root@Tower:~# pwd /root root@Tower:~# which screen /usr/bin/screen root@Tower:~# screen screen: error while loading shared libraries: libelf.so.0: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory root@Tower:~#
  13. Tom and team - This is awesome and have been waiting for a long time now. I am on 6.1.9 and the check update shows up 6.2. I am running two vms, a win8.1 and Win10. Is there a recommended process outline to upgrade from the previous stable release? Thanks!
  14. binhex - Something strange is going on. I save weekly snapshots of both the docker image as well as the app config data. So I went back up to 2 months ago on both the docker image and the app data (I recall it worked about a month ago), it doesn't work. However when I initialize the app data from scratch, I get the gui and the media scanning starts. My server has been up for about 60 days and I suspected whether something was eating away at the available memory/space. I rebooted my machine and madsonic worked fine. Now after about a day, I again cannot connect to the app. Logging into the terminal and looking at the log files I see a ".. out of heap space error" thrown by Java. I have few other dockers and all of them seem to be working fine. I am unsure what else to try other than disabling one docker at a time. The docker image is 15GB out of which 6GB seems to be in use (per docker settings). I have copied below some of the relevant logs. What do you think? I have copied a snapshot of all the dockers in my container below for reference. root@Tower:~# free total used free shared buffers cached Mem: 32712660 32348536 364124 0 1025308 12359960 -/+ buffers/cache: 18963268 13749392 Swap: 0 0 0 at org.madsonic.service.MediaScannerService.access$0(MediaScannerService.java:184) at org.madsonic.service.MediaScannerService$2.run(MediaScannerService.java:167) Caused by: java.sql.SQLException: java.lang.OutOfMemoryError: Java heap space at org.hsqldb.jdbc.JDBCUtil.sqlException(Unknown Source) at org.hsqldb.jdbc.JDBCUtil.sqlException(Unknown Source) at org.hsqldb.jdbc.JDBCPreparedStatement.fetchResult(Unknown Source) at org.hsqldb.jdbc.JDBCPreparedStatement.executeQuery(Unknown Source) at org.springframework.jdbc.core.JdbcTemplate$1.doInPreparedStatement(JdbcTemplate.java:646) at org.springframework.jdbc.core.JdbcTemplate.execute(JdbcTemplate.java:589) ... 19 more Caused by: org.hsqldb.HsqlException: java.lang.OutOfMemoryError: Java heap space at org.hsqldb.error.Error.error(Unknown Source) at org.hsqldb.result.Result.newErrorResult(Unknown Source) at org.hsqldb.StatementDMQL.execute(Unknown Source) at org.hsqldb.Session.executeCompiledStatement(Unknown Source) at org.hsqldb.Session.execute(Unknown Source) ... 23 more Caused by: java.lang.OutOfMemoryError: Java heap space [2016-05-02 03:12:55,659] ERROR MediaScannerService - Failed to scan media library. java.lang.OutOfMemoryError: Java heap space [2016-05-02 03:12:56,094] ERROR MediaScannerService - ERROR Java heap space java.lang.OutOfMemoryError: Java heap space [2016-05-02 03:12:57,790] INFO PlaylistService - Starting playlist import. 15. The server has a 32GB ram with 6GB for a Windows VM. i thought that was plenty and never had trouble till now. Over the last few days the madsonic_sh.log seems to be running what seems to be a DB update continuously. I cannot access the madsonic though, get connection refused message. 17. I have been in the same situation and the solution is straightforward but take some effort to implement. It is not recommended to directly store your seeds on user shares. Those disks will continuously run and reduce the life and not utilize the benefit of disk spin down. Here is what I do: 1.Have a cache drive and the torrents download to this cache drive. 2. In deluge you have an option of creating labels and setting the location for each of these labels. When you add a torrent and set label, deluge will move the torrent from incomplete directory to complete/labelname directory after the download completes. 3. For every label name I create, I have a symbolic link directory to usershare directory. For eg. for tv labelname, i have a symbolic link of tv_share to /mnt/user/tv. 4. Run a custom cron script few times a day to rsync directories complete/tv and complete/tv_share This way, your raid drives do not run all the time. Instead of cache drive to house your torrents, you can have a spare drive and use unassigned plugin to assign and use it for torrents. I have been using this approach for few years and works quite well. Maybe others will have an elegant solution, would love to hear about other ideas.
  18. LOL, thanks guyz! Glad my system is back up and feels dumb that the root issue was a tick mark. I didn't spot that.... But nuke and pave for the win! Too late binhex I already had the big hugz! It's great to understand the reason behind it though, I'd not spotted that myself.
  19. sabnzbdvpn will stop downloading if the vpn tunnel is not established. You can check it using the approach below (assuming you can ssh into the server). You can login to the sabnzbdvpn docker using 'docker exec -it binhex-sabnzbdvpn /bin/bash' after the docker is running. 'top' will show you which processes are running. When a nzb is downloading, you can kill ('kill -9 pid#) the openvpn process based on the pid from the 'top' command. You should see that the nzb download is stopped. I may be wrong, but I know binhex's delugeVPN has a "killswitch" if the VPN isn't up, no traffic is allowed to pass. Can't imagine the sabnzbd container would be any different... That would be great! Hopefully binhex can confirm...
  20. CHBMB - A big *hugz* to you! The only thing I did was delete the template and redo everything in the template (exactly same as before) and it works. I didn't have to even delete the old app files and no clean start. Something seemed to have been corrupted in the template and I didn't quite expect that. In a nutshell the fix for the issue was - if your docker doesn't work as expected inspite of checking everything, start with a new template.
  21. binhex, CHBMB - Thanks for checking. I am still lost as to why I get the errors. Yes, it was working for few days after you rolled back to previous version but I may have clicked on update accidentally, it is broken now. I have tried the following and I get the same error as before: 1. created a new docker app location, set perms to 777 and restarted 2. closed the docker plugin completely and restarted 3. restarted the server, pulled fresh image of sabnzbdvpn with a clean sabnzbd app location None of the above worked and I am at loss as to what I need to try. The complete logs from the time I click on start docker to stop is copied below. I have also attached screenshots of my docker template. Please let me know if you need additional information or have any ideas that I can try. One key learning from this exercise is I am going to take docker image backups as part of my weekly scripts in addition to the apps. Thank you again for the all the help and your time in sorting this! 2016-01-09 17:32:36,936 CRIT Set uid to user 0 2016-01-09 17:32:36,949 WARN Included extra file 22. binhex - The sabnzbdvpn docker was working for few days after the rollback and stopped working few days later. I do not recall updating this docker since I thought it was just better to wait it out for a while before any upgrades. Honestly I do not know why this stopped working. Please see the logs from the webgui below. Note that this was tried with a new container with explicitly set group permissions of 777 also when I saw the access permissions. 2016-01-05 18:39:33,021 CRIT Set uid to user 0 2016-01-05 18:39:33,021 WARN Included extra file "/etc/supervisor/conf.d/sabnzbdvpn.conf" during parsing 2016-01-05 18:39:33,023 INFO supervisord started with pid 1 2016-01-05 18:39:34,025 INFO spawned: 'privoxy' with pid 7 2016-01-05 18:39:34,025 INFO spawned: 'start' with pid 8 2016-01-05 18:39:34,026 INFO spawned: 'sabnzbd' with pid 9 2016-01-05 18:39:34,029 DEBG 'privoxy' stdout output: [info] VPN is enabled, checking VPN tunnel local ip is valid 2016-01-05 18:39:34,029 INFO success: privoxy entered RUNNING state, process has stayed up for > than 0 seconds (startsecs) 2016-01-05 18:39:34,029 INFO success: start entered RUNNING state, process has stayed up for > than 0 seconds (startsecs) 2016-01-05 18:39:34,032 DEBG 'sabnzbd' stdout output: [info] VPN is enabled, checking VPN tunnel local ip is valid 2016-01-05 18:39:34,033 DEBG 'start' stdout output: [info] VPN is enabled, beginning configuration of OpenVPN 2016-01-05 18:39:34,036 DEBG 'start' stdout output: [info] VPN provider defined as pia 2016-01-05 18:39:34,036 DEBG 'start' stdout output: [info] VPN provider defined as pia 2016-01-05 18:39:34,038 DEBG 'start' stdout output: [info] VPN provider remote gateway and port defined as nl.privateinternetaccess.com 1194 2016-01-05 18:39:34,061 DEBG 'start' stderr output: RTNETLINK answers: Operation not permitted 2016-01-05 18:39:34,062 DEBG 'start' stderr output: RTNETLINK answers: Operation not permitted 2016-01-05 18:39:34,062 DEBG 'start' stderr output: RTNETLINK answers: Operation not permitted 2016-01-05 18:39:34,063 DEBG 'start' stderr output: RTNETLINK answers: Operation not permitted 2016-01-05 18:39:34,063 DEBG 'start' stdout output: [info] ip routing table 2016-01-05 18:39:34,063 DEBG 'start' stdout output: default via 172.17.42.1 dev eth0 2016-01-05 18:39:34,063 DEBG 'start' stdout output: 172.17.0.0/16 dev eth0 proto kernel scope link src 172.17.0.20 2016-01-05 18:39:34,063 DEBG 'start' stdout output: -------------------- 2016-01-05 18:39:34,064 DEBG 'start' stderr output: iptables v1.4.21: can't initialize iptables table `filter': Permission denied (you must be root) Perhaps iptables or your kernel needs to be upgraded. 2016-01-05 18:39:34,065 DEBG 'start' stderr output: iptables v1.4.21: can't initialize iptables table `filter': Permission denied (you must be root) Perhaps iptables or your kernel needs to be upgraded. 2016-01-05 18:39:34,065 DEBG 'start' stderr output: iptables v1.4.21: can't initialize iptables table `filter': Permission denied (you must be root) Perhaps iptables or your kernel needs to be upgraded. hi htpcnewbie, sorry for not responding earlier, i saw tooviral's reply to you saying its working ok for him and assumed you saw the reply and found that it was a config issue or something on your end and we were all ok, it looks like this isnt the case eh. OK i can take a look at this but my testing is going to be very limited as i dont have an account for a usenet provider at the moment, so i can test the vpn side of things but cant prove that i can receive data over the tunnel. Can you give me as much detail as possible as to what your seeing, post your supervisor log file, any errors your seeing in sabnzbd webuio (if you can access it), the more info i have to work with the better basically, I will try and take a look tonight if i get time. edit - just going back a few posts and spotted this from yourself on the 31st dec http://lime-technology.com/forum/index.php?topic=38055.msg430223#msg430223 so are you saying it was working ok after the rollback of the packages and it broke AFTER this?.
  23. Oh okay, thanks for checking. I use the VPN version since some newsnet aggregators are do not support SSL (downloading API's). It just gives me the confidence running the VPN version of SABnzbd and there is no/negligible hit in downloading speeds for me. So SABnzbdVPN still has the connection issues and need to be rolled back to previous version.
