  1. I did actually try to do this believe it or not.. I run unRAID in esxi 6.5.. Then Plex in a docker. I passed through the iGPU to unraid ( I had an external GPU in a slot, as primary) I can modprobe the i915, and the monitor actually comes up in the unraid VM, but shortly after, unRAID crashes. I tried it with EFI (badly broken with exsi) as well. I didn't expect it to work, but I thought Id try. 2. Quicksync support? This docker is great and have been using it for a while. Is there any way to get Intel quick sync support added? I understand that the Unraid OS needs the kernel support, and unsure it does?
  3. Thanks! That explains it perfectly!
  4. Im having a hard time figuring out how the cache drive system works. I see there is a "Global share settings" Where The cache drive is enabled. And each user share also has options for cache drive? What should this be set to? I woke up to my newly installed cache drive completely full. Will the mover move stuff from the array to the cache disk? I just want to know what each option means? No, Yes, Prefer, Only?
  5. Hey. I use the Plex plugin (thanks!) But I have a small issue where in the unraid GUI for plex settings I can't seem to get the use external port setting to save. If I enable it, it enables and works fine, but a restart of the server or reboot of unraid it defaults back to off. Ive tried everything I could to get it to save but it doesn't. 5.0.6 Thanks
  6. Thanks I managed to get it all fixed up but pulled my hair out for days. Turns out the failing controller screwed up the filesystems on both of my data drives, and kicked parity right out of the picture. Simply replacing the controller for a new one didn't fix it, so I was chasing both a controller failure and filesystem corruption and was going in circles .. I had to run --rebuild-tree on both drives for a combined 12 hours (I only have 2 data drives) Finally got the array started and rebuilt parity, only lost a few pictures and a couple music files thank god. The adaptec hardware RAID controller writes some stuff at the beginning of the drive for its "RAID" information (even though it was JBOD mode), and that didn't help either. Not sure Ill keep the 2405 controller, I like it, its far faster than the old 1430SA but it runs hot as f#$k but I had 2 of them here. All this while in a virtualized ESXi environment with passthrough on the controller.
  7. The adaptec 1430sa controller went bad on me, and I had to replace it. But now everything is all messed up. Ive been at this for hours. I installed an adaptec 2405 controller, its what I had lying around. Configured it as JBOD, and unRAID sees all the drives, but the parity drive was blue balled, the other 2 drives were labelled as "wrong". Did some reading maybe in the wrong place, and ran initconfig. Now it looks like Im making a whole new array. If I mount each of the /dev/sdd1 and /dev/sde1 partitions separately all my data is still there, but Im afraid to "start" this new array in fear it will erase it.! I have years of data and irreplaceable stuff. Please help! UnRAID 5.0.6
  8. Hey all. I have an issue with 5.0 final that I didn't have with the RC versions. My 5.0 final upgrade was from scratch and did not keep the old configs. But now it seems I have problems playing back media after the player is been on for a while. Often I just leave it on. The Media player can see all the files, no problem but when it goes to play it, it just hangs with a spinning blue circle. The unraid drives never spin up. I have to power off and on the media player and everything will be fine. There is nothing in the logs that I can see. I dont "think" I have this problem with a Dune media player but Id have to confirm that. Anyone else see this?
  9. Ok I just want to confirm that Im not going to lose all my data: I followed the upgrade instructions in the readme to upgrade to 5.0 from older rc versions, So I backed up config directory, formatted, copied 5.0 zip over, copied backed up config directory over, and ran make bootable. Boots fine, but my drives are all shown unassigned. I dont know what to do! I have a screen print of my old drive assignments. I do really not want to screw this up and lose my data
  10. Ive used this board and its variants in a few places. Its VERY nice for the money.(50-70 dollars CDN) I actually seek out this board in Virtualization environments. I just used this board with a new piledriver X6 AMD CPU and now have a fully virtualized unRAID! Works great with ESXi if you want to go the virtualized route down the road.
  11. Thanks for this awesome tutorial!!! I just finished my build -- I had an existing unraid system I wanted to migrate to vmware esxi 5.0.0 U1. everything worked perfectly! Unraid just kept going right off where it was when it was a physical machine! Used the raw device mapping, for 3 drives, plop, boot from usb. On a side note the PCI passthru is cool! I reused a 15 year old sound card for another VM as a sound card to a winxp machine! That was very cool!.
  12. Hey all. Is it possible to take a working unraid system (3 drives) and migrate it to a vmware machine on ESXi without losing or having to move all your data?
